Know Your Role

Philosophy: Without consulting us, the Universe has assigned us our roles in life. Our assignment is out of our control. We may be assigned the part of the rich and famous, the poor, the handicapped, a distinguished leader or ordinary private citizen. As if you are an actor in a drama, execute your role to the very best of your ability. Whichever your circumstance, perform our role at a high level. And don't complain.
Insight: "If taken as absolute literal, this philosophy is a tough pill to swallow. So don't do that. In my experience, this is not saying not to reach for amazing goals, or not to follow your dreams, or that one can't move up the socio economic ladder. Merely that a writer should write, a baller should baller or an artist create. A provider provides and a mother nurtures.
The divine has instilled in us our own unique preferences, skills and virtues. Our business is not to insult with the Universe on which of these we inhabit, but to follow intuition and give an impeccable performance. After all, it isn't what you do, but how you do it that creates momentum and matters.
As a young person, I remember the desire for fame and fortune. As I've grown in age and wisdom, I've come to realize how much I enjoy everyday tasks like going to the grocery and participating in community events without the worry of paparazzi or upholding a branded image. How much I ultimately enjoy privacy. As for fortune, $4k/mo. affords our family of five to live comfortable, beyond the necessities. And an extra $2k/mo. provides vacation and security.
Just take pride in what you do, avoid complacency, and with a combination of ambition, work ethic and resourcefulness, you'll find your path to happiness."
