Peace is Possible by Attitude & Interpretation

Philosophy: It is not actual things, people, events or circumstances that harm us. It is the mental and emotional significance that we attach to them and our perception of them that harms us. As events unfold, the only thing within our power is our attitude towards them. We cannot control events and events cannot hurt us, but our views of them can. If someone insults you, their words or opinions have no power. What is within our power is how we choose to respond. Interpret all externals as simply that; external. Your inner peace is solely dependent upon your own internal attitude and interpretation, not dependent upon any external conditions.

Insight: "I remember being criticized by a critic of mine about my income. Initially, I admit, it stung a little bit because it really was a button of insecurity of me. Of course, I showed no penetration of these harmful words. It provoked no external reaction. In the moment, I maintained grace under fire. But as I recalled the provocation later that day, my truth was that I knew I was on a path to becoming a better provider and knew I worked hard, regardless of financial status. I was able to interpret their behavior as some sort of insecurity of their own they were reflecting onto me to stroke their own ego and feel better about themselves. I realized to be afforded was ultimately a choice. My peace and motivation remained intact."
